(Kazan, Russia)I am a single 49 year old man. I was registered at oneandonly.com when this
woman contacted me. What caused me to trust her was that she told me a
story about her family. She said her father was 24 years older than her mother
and she loved him very much. He had died 10 years earlier. This broke down
my defenses and caused me to believe that just maybe this was for real.
This only went on for about 30 days. She was asking for $386 for her documents
within about 2 weeks. Prior to that she was building up to having about 3
weeks of holiday from her job as a manager at a day care. She said she
thought that we should continue our relationship face to face. I foolishly sent
that money to her. I could foresee the request for airplane tickets and I had
just crashed my car and I had a house in another city that was empty and not
being rented so I brought up the $1500 for an airplane ticket that I certainly
couldnt afford at that time. She came back with something I read from some
other guys letters. She said not to worry. She had connections and she could
get a discount price ....only $870. I balked at that suggesting that she pay half
of her expenses. She said not to worry. I could pay only half....$450 and we
could worry about the rest after she got here. I foolishly sent that to her. I had
doubts after I sent that and did communicate with Western Union....they were
very cooperative but because there were no complaints they didnt stop me
like they did another fellow scam victim. She said that she had gone to
Moscow to prepare to leave but there was a problem with her papers relating
to insurance that would cost about $200 to $400 more dollars. So I played
the fool once more....hope springs eternal.....and sent $250. That was 4/12/02
....this whole thing started on 3/14/02. In all I sent just over $1000.
